Privacy Policy

Capawble is a platform that helps professional dog trainers build training methodologies and helps dog parents follow a structured daily training experience between sessions. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to our mobile apps, the web app at capawble.com, and our public pages on capawble.com.

Who this policy is for

Capawble is used by two kinds of people: trainers (professional dog trainers who run their methodology and client roster on the platform) and dog parents (the families a trainer invites to follow their dog's training). Capawble is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Information we collect

We collect the following, depending on how you use Capawble:

• Account information. Your email address (used to sign in), display name, and role (trainer or dog parent). Trainers may also add a business name, profile photo, and business logo.
• Dog information. Information you enter about a dog, such as name, photo, approximate month of birth, breed, and dietary or allergy notes.
• Training content. Trainer-authored methodology (skills, behaviors, activities, capabilities, and related notes), session records and notes, assessments, and the daily activities, completions, and notes a dog parent records.
• Content you upload. Photos, voice notes, and documents (for example PDF, DOCX, or text files) that you provide so Capawble can help build or apply a training methodology.
• Intake and feedback. Responses to trainer intake forms and any feedback you submit in the app.
• Technical information. Basic information needed to operate and secure the service, such as a request identifier, app version, time zone offset, and error/diagnostic logs. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking.
• Crash reports from the mobile apps. When the Capawble app for iPhone or Android closes because of an error, it saves a crash report and sends it the next time you open the app. A report holds the part of the app's code that failed and the error it gave, information about the device (such as its model, operating system version, memory and storage, and whether it is jailbroken or rooted), whether the app was on screen, the time, the app's version, and random identifiers for that installation of the app, which let us count how many installations a problem affects. We do not add your name, email address or account to these reports.

How we use information

• To provide the core service: connecting trainers and dog parents, tracking training progress, scheduling and recording sessions, and surfacing a daily plan.
• To run Cape, Capawble's assistant, for trainers who allow it. Cape sends notes, voice notes, documents and a dog's training record to Google's AI to prepare proposals (for example a draft methodology, a session summary, or a briefing before a session). A trainer reviews every proposal, and nothing is saved to anyone's training records until a trainer confirms it. See Cape and Google's AI.
• To authenticate users, keep accounts secure, and isolate each trainer's data from other trainers.
• To diagnose problems, monitor reliability, and improve the product.
• To communicate with you about the service, including invitations a trainer sends to a dog parent.

How information is shared

Capawble is built around a private relationship between a trainer and the dog parents they invite. A trainer's methodology and private notes are not shared with other trainers. Information is shared only as follows:

• Between a trainer and the dog parent for a given dog, as needed to deliver training (for example, assigned activities, a shared session summary, and a dog's progress). Notes a trainer marks as private stay private to that trainer.
• With service providers who process data on our behalf (see below).
• For legal reasons, if required to comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect the rights and safety of users.
• In a business transfer, such as a merger or acquisition, subject to this policy.

We do not sell your personal information.

Service providers

Capawble runs on Google Cloud Platform and relies on the following providers to operate:

• Google Cloud Platform (hosting, database, and file storage) and Firebase Authentication (sign-in).
• Firebase Crashlytics, a Google service (the mobile apps' crash reports, described above). Google processes the reports on our behalf and keeps them for 90 days.
• Google's Gemini models, through Google Cloud (Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, formerly Vertex AI) and Google Cloud Speech-to-Text, which Cape uses to prepare proposals and to transcribe voice notes, for trainers who allow it. Google processes this information on our behalf and does not use it to train its AI models. See Cape and Google's AI.
• Stripe and Link, a Stripe service (payments for paid plans). If you buy a paid plan, Link sells it to you as the merchant of record. We give Stripe your name and email address to set up the purchase. Stripe and Link receive the billing address and payment details you enter at checkout, and handle them under their own privacy policies. We receive your plan, its status and its renewal date, never your card number.
• Umami (counting visits to two of our public pages, as described in the next section).

Visits to our public pages

We count visits to two of our public pages, the home page at capawble.com and the “Get the Capawble app” page, so we know how people find Capawble and which of the page's buttons they use. We do not count visits anywhere else: not in the mobile apps, and not in the web app.

• Who counts them. Umami, an analytics service, counts the visits and processes this information on our behalf under its data processing agreement.
• What is recorded. The page visited, the campaign named in the link that brought you there (if there is one), the site that linked to it, your browser, operating system, device type, screen size and language, an approximate location, and which of the page's buttons you used. Never what you type, such as the email address you leave with us, and never an invite code.
• Cookies and your IP address. No cookies are used. Umami uses your IP address only while it handles each visit, to work out an approximate location and to tell one visitor from another, and does not keep it in its analytics records. Umami and its providers may record it in their operational and security logs.
• Turning it off. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, nothing is counted.
• How long it is kept. Umami keeps this information for six months.

Cape and Google's AI

Cape is Capawble's assistant. It helps a trainer build their methodology, plan a dog's training, prepare for a session and write up what happened. To do that, it sends information to Google's AI. Cape is a trainer's tool: dog parents never ask Cape for anything, but what they write in Capawble can be part of what their trainer's Cape sends.

• What Cape sends. What the trainer gives it: their notes, voice notes and the documents they upload. The dog's training record: the dog's name, breed and age, its program and progress, the trainer's methodology, and the trainer's notes from this and earlier sessions, including earlier proposals and the trainer's feedback on them. And what the dog's family wrote in Capawble: practice notes, why they skipped an activity, their intake answers, and how much time they have for training.
• What Cape never sends. Photos, messages between a trainer and a family, care logs, a dog's allergy notes, and the names and email addresses on anyone's account. A note goes as it was written, so a name someone wrote in one goes with it.
• Who receives it. Voice notes go to Google Cloud Speech-to-Text, to be transcribed. Everything else goes to Google's Gemini models, through Google Cloud.
• When it is sent. When a trainer asks Cape for something; on the morning of a scheduled session, to prepare that session's briefing; and after a trainer confirms or turns down a proposal, or changes their methodology, so Cape learns how they like things written.
• Trainers decide. The app asks each trainer before Cape sends anything for them. Cape sends nothing for a trainer who says no, and the morning briefing and Cape's learning run only for trainers who said yes. A trainer can turn Cape off at any time in the app's Settings, under “Cape and your data”; Cape then stops sending, and what it already prepared stays. Until every trainer has updated the app, a trainer using an older version, which cannot ask, can still use Cape when they ask it for something.
• Families are told. Every dog parent using the app sees “About Cape” on their dog's day and in Settings. A family's words reach Cape only when their trainer uses it.
• How Google protects it. Google processes what Cape sends on Capawble's behalf, as our data processor, under the Cloud Data Processing Addendum, the same terms that cover everything else Capawble stores on Google Cloud. Under those terms Google may use it only to provide, secure and monitor the services we use, protects it with technical, organizational and physical security measures (encryption among them), lets its staff and subprocessors reach it only as strictly necessary and under a duty of confidentiality, and remains responsible for its subprocessors.
• What Google does with it. Google's service terms say it will not use what Cape sends to train or fine-tune any AI model without our permission, and we have not given it. Gemini may hold it in memory for up to 24 hours to answer faster. If Google's safety checks flag a request for possible abuse, Google may keep that request for up to 90 days to review it. Speech-to-Text uses voice notes only to transcribe them and, as we use it, does not log the audio or the transcript.
• What Capawble keeps. What Cape was sent and what it prepared are kept with the trainer's account, so a proposal can be reviewed and revised, and are deleted with that account.

Google Calendar (optional, for trainers)

A trainer can connect a Google account so their sessions appear in Google Calendar. This is optional, and only trainers can turn it on.

• What we access. Connecting creates one calendar, “Capawble sessions”, in the trainer's Google account, and Capawble manages only that calendar. We also receive the account's email address, to show which account is connected.
• What we write there. We add, move and remove events in that calendar as sessions are scheduled, rescheduled and cancelled. Each event shows the dog's name, the family's names, the session's time and a link to the session in Capawble.
• What we read. Once two-way sync is available, moving or deleting an event in that calendar makes the same change to the session in Capawble. We never read or change any other calendar or event.
• How it is protected. The access Google grants is stored encrypted, with a key held in Google Cloud's key management service. This information is never sold, never used for advertising, never used to train AI models, and is read by our team only when the trainer asks us for help, for security, or when the law requires it.
• Disconnecting. Disconnecting in Capawble's Settings, or deleting the account, deletes the “Capawble sessions” calendar and revokes Capawble's access. Access can also be removed at any time in the Google Account's security settings.

Capawble's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can delete your account yourself, in the app under Settings › Delete account. Deletion is scheduled with a 30 day window in which you can cancel it, and is subject to limited exceptions where we must retain data to comply with legal obligations. Some records about a dog outlive the account that produced them, because they belong to the dog and its family rather than to any one person. When a trainer closes their account, the dog keeps its level, points, celebration timeline, and the badges Capawble itself awards, and its family keeps the dog's care log and routine. The records that are specific to that trainer go with them: their assessments of the dog, their private notes, their sessions, and the badges belonging to their own methodology.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can edit much of your information directly in the app. For other requests, contact us at the address below and we will respond as required by applicable law.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), authenticated access, and per-trainer data isolation enforced at the database layer. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and review our practices regularly.

International users

Capawble is operated from the United States, and information is processed and stored on infrastructure located in the United States. Visits to our public pages are counted by Umami, whose providers process that information in the United States and the European Union. If you use Capawble from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in those places.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
