This page explains how to delete your Capawble account or specific data associated with it, what is deleted or kept, and how long it takes. It applies to both trainers and dog parents who use the Capawble mobile apps and the web app at capawble.com.
You can delete your Capawble account yourself, from inside the app. You do not need to contact us and you do not need to wait for a reply.
In the app: Settings › Delete account
Open Capawble, go to Settings, and choose Delete account near the bottom of the screen.
The steps:
Confirming does not delete anything on the day you ask. It records the request, locks your account, and schedules the deletion. Sign back in at any point during those 30 days and choose Cancel deletion: your account and everything in it comes back exactly as it was, because nothing had been removed.
Asking a second time does not push the date back. The first request is the one that counts, and the date you were shown is the date we act on.
If you cannot sign in to reach that screen, email support@capawble.com and we will help you get back into your account so you can delete it yourself.
If you want to remove particular data but keep your account, you can delete much of it yourself in the app (for example, removing a dog, a photo, a note, a session, or methodology content you created). For anything you cannot remove yourself, email us and we will delete it for you:
Email support@capawble.com
Use the subject line "Delete my data" and describe the data you want removed. Email from the address on your account so we can verify the request.
This address is for partial requests only. To close your account entirely, use Settings › Delete account in the app, as described above.
When your account is deleted, we delete the personal data we hold about you, including:
If you are a trainer, we also delete:
If you are a dog parent, we also delete:
A trainer closing their account does not delete a client family's dog. Each family keeps the dog itself, along with its care log, routine, planned days, and calendar feed, and the dog keeps its level, points, celebration timeline, and the badges Capawble itself awards. What the family loses is the training program that trainer was running: their assessments, their private notes, their sessions, and the badges specific to their methodology. The dog's photo is cleared, because the file it points at is deleted with the trainer's uploads.
A dog parent closing their account does not delete a dog either. The dog belongs to its family, not to any one account. Deleting your parent account removes your access to it.
Product feedback you sent us is kept, with your name removed. When your account is deleted, the link between the feedback and you is severed, so it is no longer attributed to you or tied to your account. We keep the message itself, because feedback that disappeared when someone left would be least available exactly when it is most worth reading.
If you shared a household with other people, the roster entry showing your name may remain in that household so their own shared records stay readable. It is no longer connected to an account and cannot be signed in to; the household's owner can remove or rename it.
We may also keep aggregated or anonymized information that can no longer identify you.
The 30 day window is the whole of it. Your account and the data listed above are removed from our active systems at the end of that window, so nothing is held for longer than 30 days after you ask. Residual copies may remain in our encrypted backups until they expire on our normal backup rotation, no later than 90 days after deletion, after which they are overwritten.
We may retain a limited amount of information where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to comply with law, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, or enforce our agreements. Any such records are kept only as long as needed for those purposes.
If you have any questions about deleting your account or data, email support@capawble.com. For more on how we handle information, see our Privacy Policy.
